Notes
Baltic state to the north of Lithuania. Its Jewish community was largely destroyed in 1941. The family's connection is through the deportation route east: Itzik Turetz was moved through the ghetto, prison and camps at Daugavpils (Dvinsk) and Riga (Kaiserwald, HKP, Dundaga) in 1941–44; Yakov Turetz was shot in Dvinsk prison.
