Skerdyklos gatvė, Kaunas, Lithuania

In 1934, Skerdyklos gatvė was located in the Žemieji Šančiai (Lower Šančiai) district of Kaunas. This street was the primary access road to the Kaunas City Municipal Slaughterhouse (Kauno miesto savivaldybės skerdykla), which was one of the most modern industrial facilities in Lithuania at the time, completed just a few years earlier (around 1931–1932). Specific Location Details District: Žemieji Šančiai. Geography: It was situated on the bank of the Nemunas River, at the southeastern edge of the city's developed industrial zone. Modern Equivalent: Today, this area corresponds to the section of A. Juozapavičiaus prospektas and Kranto gatvė (specifically around the 5th to 9th Kranto streets). The original slaughterhouse buildings were located near what is now the intersection of A. Juozapavičiaus Ave. and the railway bridge area.
