Qula, Israel

Arab village on the coastal plain near Rosh HaAyin, depopulated in the 1948 war and the subject of Shmuel Schwartz's book "The Fifty Minutes of Qula." It was fought over during Operation Danny in July 1948, changing hands twice between the Alexandroni Brigade and the Jordanian Arab Legion. Yitzhak Estrajcher, serving with the Alexandroni Brigade, was killed here on 16 July 1948.
