District on the northern edge of Sosnowiec into which the city's Jews were progressively forced. Concentration into the quarter began in 1940; the sealed ghetto was formally established between October 1942 and March 1943. Members of the Estrajcher family — Izrail Szymon and his children Rosa Yochvet, Sara and Shmuel Tsvi — were moved here from Schuhgasse 22 to Rehweg 3. Jochweta "Yadzia" Estrajcher died on 1 August 1943 during the final liquidation, which met armed resistance from the local Jewish Combat Organisation (ŻOB); the survivors were deported to Auschwitz.
