Wooded site about 10 km south‑west of Vilnius where, between 1941 and 1944, German units and Lithuanian auxiliaries shot roughly 70,000 Jews from Vilnius and the surrounding region in pits originally dug for Soviet fuel tanks. Sholom, Rokhlia, Khaia and Cipora Porubansky, Zelik Arkowicz, Bluma Sznitkin and Jehoszua Katz were among those murdered here.
