Biography

Leib Yehuda Hillinger, a merchant, was born on 14 January 1861 in Raniżów. He married Lea Rivka Schneeweiss and they had five children — Chaja Debora, Mendel, Aaron, Reisel Tzirel and Rachel (later Beeri). Fleeing Raniżów in the First World War, the family registered in Chemnitz on 9 November 1914; Leib himself moved on to Vienna in May 1915, travelling on a passport. He returned to Raniżów, where he died on 1 March 1929.
