Notes

Industrial city in Saxony. Kalman and Rachel Beeri, the Schmidt family and the Schneeweiss/Hillinger relatives lived here in the 1900s–1920s at 9 Hartmann­ straße, several of them registering there after arriving from Cologne or fleeing from Raniżów. On 28 October 1938 Leib "Leo" Schmidt was among the roughly 17,000 Polish Jews expelled from Germany to the Polish border in the "Polenaktion"; the Chemnitz contingent numbered 335.
