Annie Chana Schmidt

Annie Chana Schmidt, later Annie Lichtman, was born on 6 March 1920 in Chemnitz, a daughter of Aaron Hillinger and Balima Schmidt. On 26 September 1942 she crossed illegally into Switzerland as a refugee. On 2 August 1944, in Zürich, she married Stanley Shlomo Lichtman, and on 8 September 1945 the couple immigrated to Israel, where their sons Daniel and Ralph Aaron were born; the family later settled in Montreal. Annie died there on 3 August 2001 and is buried at the Baron de Hirsch – De la Savane Cemetery.
