Biography

Leib Schmidt was born on 22 April 1883 in Głogów. He married Chaja Debora Schneeweiss, and in February 1909 the couple registered in Chemnitz, having arrived from Cologne; they had three children — Suzan, Bill and Wolf Zeigfried. On 28 October 1938 he was among some 335 Jews of Polish citizenship deported from Chemnitz to the Polish border. He died in Rzeszów on 13 January 1940, of heart failure, a casualty of the Holocaust.
