Suzan "Selma" Schmidt

Suzan Schmidt, later Suzan Ettlinger, was born on 26 August 1914 in Chemnitz, a daughter of Leib Schmidt and Chaja Debora Schneeweiss. On 1 December 1936, in Chemnitz, she married Albert Gert Ettlinger. In October 1937 the couple sailed from Hamburg to New York aboard the S.S. President Roosevelt, settling by April 1938 at 11 Manhattan Avenue; they went on to raise four children — Leonore Nannette, Roy, Shirley and Vivian — in Connecticut. Suzan died in Hartford on 6 March 1983 and is buried at the Meriden Hebrew Cemetery.
