Hermann Maier Tiefenbrunner

Hermann Maier Tiefenbrunner, also recorded as Hirsh Maier and later as Hermann Brunner, was born on 28 February 1911 in Karlsruhe, a son of Alfred Alter P Tiefenbrunner and Sarah Rachel Scharf, and worked as a mechanic from 1931. He lived in Perpignan, France, through the Spanish Civil War (1939-1939) and the years that followed. On 6 March 1936, in Barcelona, he had married Teressa Ayter, and they had a son, Jerry Miguel, born there. On 20 May 1948 the family sailed from Cherbourg to New York aboard the SS Queen Mary, and Hermann was naturalised in Chicago, petitioning in 1948 and completing the process in 1954. He died on 2 July 1989.
