Leo Bruner

Biography

Leo Tiefenbrunner, later known as Leo Bruner, was born on 13 February 1905 in Strasbourg, a son of Alfred Alter P Tiefenbrunner and Sarah Rachel Scharf. He reached Ellis Island from Hamburg aboard the SS Thuringia in the summer of 1927 and settled in Chicago, where he was naturalised in 1934. On 20 October 1928, in Chicago, he married Jenny E Elke; that marriage ended, and on 10 January 1942, in Lake County, he married Clara Mae Johnson, with whom he had four children — Ronald John, Richard Alan, Suzanne and Gail. Leo died in Chicago on 1 September 1987 and is buried at Oakridge Cemetery, Hillside.
