Jeanette Tiefenbrunner

Jeanette Tiefenbrunner, later Jeanette Scharf, was born on 17 August 1901 in Saarbrücken, a daughter of Alfred Alter P Tiefenbrunner and Sarah Rachel Scharf, and worked as a sewing machine operator. On 14 July 1929, in Karlsruhe, she married Leo Leizer Scharf, and they had two children, Fred and Ruth. In June 1937 the family reached Ellis Island from Le Havre aboard the SS Paris, settling in Chicago, where Jeanette was recorded as a cook in the 1940 census and declared her intention to naturalise in 1942. She died in Chicago on 23 May 1982 and is buried at Waldheim Cemetery.
