Biography

Malka Szternberg was born on 6 February 1902 in Sosnowiec, a daughter of Icek Szternberg and Frajda Jochweta Krakauer. On 27 March 1931 she married Jakov Jozef Estrajcher, also of Sosnowiec, and the couple had two children, Yitzhak and Tyla. From July 1931 she ran a shoe shop in the town in her own name. In 1940 the family was forced into the Środula ghetto, moved from their home at 19 Modrzejowska Street to Bergzeile 2a/21. She was murdered at Auschwitz-Birkenau around August 1943.
