Notes

Town in the Sharon plain, founded in 1922 by American Jewish settlers ("Ahuzat New York"). The family's Israeli home. Kalman and Rachel Beeri, who reached Palestine in 1936, settled here; the surname was Hebraised from Tiefenbrunner to Beeri in 1949. Zeev Beeri lived and worked here all his life — deputy chief regional engineer for the Ra'anana district of the state telephone company — until his death in 1983. Itzik and Mania Turetz moved here from Lithuania in 1971. Rachel Szternberg and Haim Fainer, who had come on the Fifth Aliyah in 1935, also lived and died here.
