Notes
Port city and gateway for Jewish immigration to Mandatory Palestine. Kalman, Rachel and Zeev Beeri disembarked here from Germany on 8 September 1936; Yehoshua Singer arrived in 1938 and served as a "noter" (supernumerary police guard) in the Atlit and Kiryat Shmuel immigrant camps; Tyla Beeri reached Haifa in June 1948. It was in Haifa in 1947 that Wolfgang Tiefenbrunner formally changed his name to Zeev Beeri.
